Finally I'm home from training for a bit anyways. Because of the recent problems that we've encountered with our current webhost I've being forced to move the site to a dedicated server in order to maintain stevesnovasite.com for you the users. In saying this I would like to warn you know that I have already made the arrangements for the new hosting package, so once everything is backed up and moved to the new host/server we should be good to go. I'm trying to make this change as smooth as possible, so you won't even notice the move, but just incase, I wanted to warn you that there may (I hope not) be some "small" site outage during the move. Thanks for your support!

The main thing is, with the site in its own little virtual corner of the world, the plug won't get pulled on it for using a database.

Hi,
I just wanted everyone to know that any new posts, threads, PMs, etc started after tonight may not be transferred over to the new server. Sorry for any inconvience this may cause you, but I will be endeavour to get the site up and running in it's new locations soonest. In saying this, we should not be without a site so you can continue to post your posts and threads here and when the switch is close to taking place will with let you know.

Cheers...

So I can start a political thread based in a KKK nudist colony with plenty of pictures without fear of deletion, since it wont survive the move??:D

For what it's worth...I still can't get in using the name, I have to use the IP address.

I know they say "48 hours" for the domain record propagation, but...last site I set up was available about 3 hours after I pushed the purchase button. I hate to say it, but it seems like there's something wrong here. I actually did get the name to work last night...once...but all I got was a 'there is no website configured at this address' page.

This post isn't to insult your intelligence, but have you hit the refresh button? As well, what url are you attempting to use:

www.stevesnovasite.com/forums or
www.stevesnovasite.com/forums/index.php

I bet it's the first one, if so, try using the second one for now...

admin
6th-June-2006, 07:17 PM
Actually I just fixed the first link, you should get into the site by either:

www.stevesnovasite.com
www.stevesnovasite.com/forums

No offense taken...and go figure, it's working now. I tried it from several different computers in the house (yes...I said several...it's a sickness...don't go there) and I tried doing nslookup a bunch of times through my home ISP (adelphia), and from work (IBM) and it wasn't finding the domain record from either place. I guess it did finally percolate through...eventually!

Congrats on moving the site!!!

I know that I still couldn't get into the site from work before the end of the day. I just hope it's not firewalled out... :( It did work at first but the date on the Site News was 15 May and I knew the latest was 6 Jun, and as soon as I hit refresh I couldn't get the site anymore.

Hey cats,
It looks like the host didn't register or place the DNS entry with and without the "WWW". It looks like they registered the with "WWW", but not the without. Also, Make sure you clear your own DNS Entrys.

Directions:
1. Using Window XP, go to START
2. Click the RUN and type "CMD" (it's "DOS"/Command Line)
3. Type in "IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS" and enter.
4. You'll see a message that the revolver cache has been successfully flushed

If you receive and error that ipconfig is not and external or internal...(blah blah blah...)

You need to add an environment variable called "Path" with a value of,
"%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\Sy stem32\Wbem"

(Give me a PM or post and I'll tell you how to do it.)

Looks like all of us that had without "WWW" as links in our favoriates will just have to readd the fav or mod the existing one.

Once again...
THANKS STEVE !!!

Brent thanks for that!!!

I have also sorted out the www issue, so you can just type stevesnovasite.com without the www and all is well.
