Air conditioning Compatibility

Just joined. Been a guest visitor for several months. Anyone know if the factory air in a 73 Omega will work in my 74 Nova? I bought an Omega for parts and it has factory air. I would like to add it to my Nova if it is a direct replacement. I don't have access to any other air equipped cars to see if they are the same. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Steve's Nova Site!

Swapping a factory AC setup into a non-AC car is not going to be a direct bolt-in replacement. That's because the openings in the firewalls are a different shape and size on AC versus non-AC cars.

If you're willing to make the necessary modifications to the firewall the 73 Omega should be a suitable donor car for "most" of the AC equipment. I say "most" because there are some parts such as the compressor mounting brackets, pulleys, and hoses that are likely to be different. Especially if the Omega doesn't have the same size/type engine as your Nova.
