NHRA rulebook question

it said on NHRA's website that the expiration dates for the snell rated helmets are listed in the helmet and goggles section. can someone tell me what they are? thanks!

the 95's expire this year i think, don't they? does it say when the 2000's and 2005's expire?

In the 2006 NHRA rule book on page 230 is a helmet expiration date schedule. It states that all Snell 90 rated helmets expire 1/1/2006 and Snell 95 helmets expire 1/1/2007. It is important for you to have this information because if you are in the market for a helmet, you want to ensure it does not expire in the two years.

so how about the 2000's and 2005's? i'm buying a helmet today and if the 2000's expire in two years i'll spring the extra $40 or $50 and get a 2005

Snell 90=1/1/06, Snell 95=1/1/07, Snell K98=1/1/09, Snell 2000=1/1/12, Snell 2005=1/1/17

I may be wrong but the way it looks to me is the snell rating is the basic date of manufacture for these helmets or maybe design specs for that time frame. My snell 90 was purchased in 1992 and my new snell 2000 was purchased in 2002. Never gave it much thought but now that I see the expiration dates verses snell rating that seems to make sense. RM

seems like they do. i went ahead and ordered a G-force snell 2005 rated helmet. it will be easier to sell should i decide to get a new one or i quit racing sometime down the road. black was out of stock so i got white. i was thinking of refinishing it anyway (or at least decorating it) so i figure it'll be alright. thanks guys!

Bought mine off ebay, snell 2000 2 years ago, $65... Its ugly but its legal..
