I had my tank patched, wasn't real happy with the work but its fixed... I finished cleaning the tank (another thing they didn't do well) and last nite I sprayed it with Eastwoods "Tank Tone". I think it looks pretty good now, should I spray it with A clear or just leave it like it is? Also what color should the tank straps be?

Tommy,
Not saying this is correct but I Clear all of those type Procucts. If I think it will be to Shiney I use Satin Clear.Easier to keep Clean and a better Seal I believe.

The son did his 66 Nova tank with Eastwoods tank tone - did not clear. About 1 1/2 years later still looks good. He did the tank straps in BLACK, also looks nice but not sure if this is "correct"...

i also did the chevelle's... it still looks nice also. if your going to order the tank tone from eastwood, get 2 because i used about 1 1/2 (about 3 whole coats) and it looks really good and and came out very even.

My brand new tanks at the welders having a sump welded on. When it comes back I have Tank Tone for it. What would you use to remove that waxy substance that's on the tank from the factory? Brillo Pads?

I'm thinking about doing the straps in black like JJ66 and I'll use a clear over the whole thing for extra protection too.

I used paint stripper from A aerosol can. My tank still had undercoating and years of grime on it. The stripper and A paint-getter-offer-wheel worked well. I sanded it by hand after that just to make it A little smoother. I like it.:)
