washer/ wiper problem

The washer pump on my 67 will not stop pumping, even with the wires disconnected on the pump side. Here's the strange part (although thats weird enough) since I disconnected the wires on the pump the wipers will not shut off. I put the wires back on, the wipers still will not stop.

Anyone run into this problem.

sounds to me like it is internaly shorted to ground. Pull it off the firewall, tear it apart and inspect it. Other than that, its time for a new motor and pump.
