Had a pair of 28 x 11 Goodyears mounted on 8'' rims, section width was 11.870. Mounted one on a 10'' rim thinking they would actually have less section, wrong again, 12.4, I was surprised. Turned out not to be a problem, had ordered a custom set of wheels and was contemplating hari kari if everything didn't clear, but it's ok.

In my experiences the GY are the narrowest then Hoosier then M/T which are the widest. I run 16X33 Hoosiers with no problems but I got a set of M/T 16.5X33 and while they were slightly wider at the tread area the middle was a bunch wider and would rub the tubs slightly at times. Nothing serious but a rub is never good. The Good Years have lots of room. I have been told this is true with all sizes. RM

a friend of mine offered to sell me at a real good price a set of drag lites, the back are 15x8 witha 4 or 4.5" backspace,i was planning on running 15x10's but now maybe i'll reconsider since you had a 28 x 11 on an 8" rim.do you know how big a tire can fit an 8" rim?

Several years ago I went from a 28x10.5 M/T that fit ok, to a 29x10 Hoosier, Undriveable! Rubbed everywhere. Could barely get it in the fender opening.

Cadanova, I guess you can mount anything, but 11'' on an 8'' rim is about all the farther I'd want to go.

Rule of thumb from the tire manufacturers is 2" varience. 10" tire, smallest wheel is a 8". etc. Dave
