Does anyone know what the original finish for a 4-speed bell housing is for a 66 Nova? is it bare or Chevy orange? Ive seen restored cars both ways including bare with over spray.
Thanks

the bell housing is not painted , it is the natural aluminium color , and the sheet metal cover on the front is black .I have alot of pictures of my first low mileage Canadian built L-79 that I did a mechanical restoration of , the car had never been apart untill I bought it from the origional owner who kept all of the parts he had ever changed , which was'nt many. If you need any more info let me know . Frank

Hey Frank, could you also tell me what the correct finish for the rear end is?
Iv'e seen the axle tubes painted and the carrier bare, and vise versa.
Thanks again for the help.
