Silver goes with anything metallic.
-Blue
-Red
-Black
-Charcoal
Keep the lighter (silver) on the bottom and the darker on top and as long as both colors are the same aggregate of metallic you cant go wrong. Use the body line to seperate the two.

Fast4by is correct. The rule of thumb is lighter color on the bottom. We two-toned my 67 back in 1995 when we didn't know any better. Can't post any pictures right now, but check my avatar.

Copper top, silver or champagne on the bottom looks good. I went with black top, champagne bottom. I've seen green & silver that looks good too. There's too many nice colors available now days.

if i was ever going to re paint my nova it would be silver on the bottom and the chevy cobalt blue (like the whole thing is now) on the top. i really like the cobalt blue, gives a nice shine in the sun. i havent seen any novas painted that color but it would look really nice with the chrome trim.

hey bat, i really like that nova with the black on top and the bronze on bottom, their sweet, good combo!

My car is currently pearl white. If I went two-tone, what color should I paint the top....black, blue, copper? Or should I just stick with what I have? I can't decide what color (if any) would look good with the pearl white. Thanks.

i dig it the way it is... but then i've been somewhat partial ta white cars my whole life...

if anything, i'd add a nice set of stripes, either on the hood, or hockey sticks on the side...

but regardless of the style... they'd have ta be either pearly or ghost ;)   :D

Ditto...that car looks awsome as it is...the stripes would just set it off....Now not sure I agree about the ghost style but thats just my personal preference...Thats a very nice looking car...

Thanks for the comments guys. What color of "pearly" stripes? Has anyone seen pictures of a 3rd gen with hockey style stripes? I just don't want to be accused of being "camaroish".

I guess I could always go with Hugger Orange?

Blue top goes nice with a creme or vanilla bottom but not sure on your color without seeing it in person. Some shades of orange & copper look nice too.

Well I havent seen one with the hockey stick stripes on it...I "THINK" it would look good...its not like novas came with the bandaid hood stripes from the factory BUT when they are done right they look great and I dont think the owner is trying to be "Camaroish, Chevellish, or Cutlassish". I just think its a nice looking car...:)

I really like the yenko Stripes BUT IMO if you are going to do the Yenko stripe route you better have a 427 of some sort (either BBC or SBC)under the hood...like i said JMO here but to me those stripes go hand in hand with that size motor...and hey Hockey is cool. ..no pun intended:rolleyes:

I'm sorry to keep veering from the two tone theme, but I am still trying to make up my mind on the stripes. The "hockey stick" style stripes look awesome on the Camaros, but I am not sure they would work on my Nova. I like Hugger Orange racing stripes but get thumbs down from everyone else I ask. My lovely future wife tells me I am going to turn my "pretty white car into a Halloween car."

JMO here but if you go with the hood stripes IMO dont get the type that run straight off the car like the type in the Camaro pic you posted. I feel the Chevelle type hood stripes look much better on a Nova than the Camaro type hood stripes....this was not ment as a bash to anyone with the Camaro type hood stripes...this is just my view of them;)

agree, but disagree???
Is that like " the same, only different"?:D

Put silver stripes on that white Nova.
Silver ralley stripes, hockey stripe.
No, no, no. Silver Ralley Nova stripe that goes down the side of the body.
That would look bad @ss!
Whatever you do, don't do black.
Everybody and thier mother has black stripes.

My favorite combination with white paint is silver trim. Just a personal thing, but I love the understated look.

Not a Nova, but you can see how the combo might look... this is my RX-7 that I use for autocrossing. If you're wondering about how we arrived at the width of the stripe, it completely fills the indentation on the hood. The wheels are Panasports that I had refinished in silver to co-ordinate with the stripe.

Here are a couple pics of a 66 with a 2 tone paint job. The top color is a dark purple metallic and the side is a bright silver.
