Did my '69 SS396, M22 4-speed have a reverse lockout feature?
and the "Neutral Switch" feature...where you have to depress the clutch
to start the car?
I know my '69 Chevelle has both.
Anyone know how the Nova would have come equipped originally?

I am pretty sure all GM vehicles came with the locking steering column starting in 1969. Your Nova definately came with it from the factory.

Hi Tom,
Sorry, guess I didn't make my question clear enough.
I was asking about the "reverse lock-out" mechanism on the tranny
and the "neutral switch?" ( not sure where it should be located )
I have one on the Chevelle...it can will only start after you step on the clutch.

From all I've seen from trying to put mine back together they should have R/lockout Classic Industries repops the braket and rod. They don't fit with headers though, that's why they are missing.Autos use 3 bolt bracket, manual use 2 bolt bracket.Sorry this is probaly no good to you.I posted same time as you.

The reverse lockout mechanism mounts on the driver's side frame and it connects to the bottom of the steering column.
The steering column lockout lever looks like this:

The neutral safety switch is located on the clutch pedal assembly bracket and you can see what it looks like here:

The 68 assembly is on the left. 69-72 in the middle. 73-74 on the right.
