LED bulbs

I bought some amber 1157 LED bulbs to use in my front park and turn lights on my Nova, Well when I install them I lose my side marker lights. Do I need the resistor I have read about? Or am i missing something, HELP? they do look cool in

I don't know much about this but there's a thread on page 2 "LED tail light conversion"...they also said the 1157 isn't bright enough to see in the daylight, but that post could probably help you more than I can.
