How does the handle come out of the Hurst shifter. I need to remove it and do some heatin and bendin. Would ithurt anything to leave it on and heat it enough to bend it. Any rubber inside the workins?

ya gotta shot of it Jerry ???
it depends on yer shifter... some unbolt, some ya have ta disassemble shifter to get out. i've had a few apart, no biggie... be carefull ya don't heat too much.. don't get hot enough ta "puddle" it... close, but not that hot.
post a shot of yer shifter or send it to me E Mail...

how close to the "shifter" do ya need ta get the handle hot to bend... a couple inches ???
if it's a couple inches, i'd wrap a real wet rag around shifter mechanism... there's some thin bladed shims so to speak in there... ya don't want ta melt 'em...

if it's a solid handle, i'd stay at least 2" or more above the mechanism...
if it's hollow... i'd be carefull Jerry, ya don't want it to collapse...
