Some guy running 13.6s in a 91 Mustang in referring to my Wagon that was running 12.9s at the time.
"that's pretty fast for a Wagon"....
My Response " I guess it would be pretty fast for a Mustang too".

The first time I went to the drags I saw a 1st Gen Wagon leaving the line on the rear bumper! Never will forget that. Wagons are Cool.

GET SOME BRO!!! I'd drive a II wagon before I'd drive one of those Gt 500's that they all brag about but nobody seems to ever find.
Anytime a mouse-twang driver gives you any crap, use a couple of my favorites:
1) "Man, that sure is a pretty mustang. You musta put a lot of work into that!?! Yep, just like polishing a turd, might be bright and shiny, but it's still a turd."
2)"Hey, nice mustang. What year is that?" (wait for response) "Now, is that the year they gave out the free training-bra, or the starter box of kotex? 'Cause we all know that mustangs are little girl cars."

Spectator's used to tell a friend of mine, "That car would go really fast if you turned that hood scoop around and tossed that vacuum secondary carb." He ran cowl induction and a tricked 780 Holley. He ran 10.70's at 125 mph in a street car.

Last year at the Fri nite street drags, I let my friend Frank (novacars) drive the Cloner in a race against a 2004 Mustang GT!! He whooped his *****, got my car into the 13's and lost the throttle at the end of the track, coasting thru the traps!! The mustang owner was pi$$ed !!! However, I do like the looks of the new Shelby!! Sorry !!

Wagons are cool. that guy's just ignorant. A wagon has more weight over the rear axle than a typical 2 door.
How about this one: 8.99 @ 148 weighs 3400 lbs

Geez... you guys are rough! I suppose that this would be a bad time to admit that my '65 Nova shares a garage with my '95 Mustang GT, and that I actually LIKE my 5.0 Ford! ;)

Must have to go to pilot school to drive something that fast. Wonder how he keeps the groceries from flying around the back? :D

I wonder if it still seats 9  :D
They are some cool wagons...I have always heard that wagons make good drag cars just for the reason Paul gave...more weight over the back tires = more traction;)

Wagons aren't as heavy as SUV's and they are actually more aerodynamic than an SUV.
A 572 in new style Caprice (91-96) wagon with the roof rack and phony wood trim removed would cool.
this looks similar to the Valiant wagon as above but they claim 6.66 @ 212 mph in the 1/4 and plan on trying for 300 mph at Bonneville. Not too bad for a wagon.

Well I always thought Novas were popular because of the larger overhang of sheetmetal behind the rear axle. Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers as ponycars have a nearly the same wheelbase; but the body is shifted forward on the wheelbase. Nascar cars do the same based on the style of track to move weight and downforce. Just like the altered wheelbase cars of the 60's.

My friends 03 Mach 1 has been in the garage for 6 months after blowing the bottom end out of it at the strip. His new engine was twice the price of a comparable sbc and still doesnt run. Can't get him away from the dark side!!

well i love my nova and wouldnt trade it for a ford.........
but my bro in law just bought a 05 roush stage 1 mustang gt.
he is going to put the supercharger on it as well as a american racing long tube header and a chambered x pipe.
with that combo another roush just dynoed 505hp at the wheel at mustang magic's shop. a cost of 10k:eek: , but thats freaking impressive and its so easy driving. cant be hatin that...

i never have seen one of those "mod motors" run worth a damn naturally aspirated. just what i've seen...i don't read fast fords or any junk like that so i could very well be ignorant...
anyway...this reminds me of when i broke into the 8's in the 1/8 mile. beating the ricers with 9's was fun...beating the mustangs with 8's was excuisite :D. and this year nailing the worthy cars with 7's will be even sweeter...

Careful what you say about Mustangs, Rousch, and such. Certain members of this board are know to earn a living associated with such things. Course once I learned they built Chevy's there I was convinced they were really OK.
Heck, What do you expect...from a wagon owner?

My 72' Nova sits happily beside my 01' Mustang GT Bullitt. I love both cars about equally. Ford does make some very nice cars for your money. But I will never sell the Nova!!!

Weight 4075
Full exhaust
92 octane pump gas
No power adders

don't get me wrong, a lot of them run hard and i can't say that i'm running faster than ALL of them by any stretch of the imagination. and they ALL get better mileage than i do :D but i've never run a N/A overhead cam mustang that i couldn't beat. i'm certainly not saying they don't exist but from my observation they're simply not on the road in mass quantities. with the price of a small block chevy or older ford it doesn't seem like these guys get a lot of bang for their buck...

i was back at mustang magic the otehr night and a 03 mach 1 , i believe, its a 4.6L dohc n/a. the oil pump took out the bottom end. they rebuilt it and lightly ported the heads. first pass on the dyno 411 hp.with a ecu tune it made 445 hp but at 7200 rpm. thats still pretty good.
they all need steep gears.
but i agree the n/a motos are very effiecent. the new 4.6L 3 valve is alot nicer but ..........

Not to get an argument going but I am skeptical about a N/A 287 ci (or 267 ci or whatever they are) dual over head cam mod motor making that much power with only a little light head porting. Surely something else was also done.

i agree...it would take more than a little port work. i'd be really skeptical if it was at the wheels unless it was a DOHC cobra with a blower on it
