View Full Version : Any pics of 4 doors, mild or wild?

My '63 4dr Nova 400 is bone stock (White/ Aqua) and I've been thinking about restoring it back to original. But... I see a lot of great looking first Gen Novas and wondering what a non stock, maybe mild or wild 4 door might be like. Paint, motor, wheels etc.
Does anyone have any pics?

I think the four doors are cool. They are easier to find unmodified and are definatly cheaper than a 2 door. I think mine would be on the wild end of your scale. I built a whole new frame for it, rear 4-link from a 70 Impala, Narrowed 12 bolt, 26x12.5 MT Sportmans, Cragar SS rims, CPP disc brake kit, Poly bushings, and a whole bunch of good stuff to come. With my recently aquired 427 4 bolt block come a little ol' 496. :D I guess i need to update my website to show some upgrades pics. If you have any questions, please ask away.

Hey Neal, what happened to the Pro-Street S-10?
You are truly evil!!!
As for the prostreet s10 its still in the planning stages. It doesnt help when I take the moordoor out for a cruise. Today I took the grocery getter to get groceries. So now Im wavering in what I want. tetter-totter goes my head. I still would like to get more done to the moordoor before I sell it. So im learning about s10's and planning stuff for the nova. Im sure the moordoor will survive this year.

That Yellow 63 4 door is just plain AWESOME !
Got any more pics of that one ? ( or others,:-)
We were originally going to go with a bright yellow (77 Corvette) on our own 63 4 door, but decided to be more subdued and go with mitsubishi (sorry) Durango Copper Pearl.
But, since it's not painted yet, might rethink, lol

I'd think those 4 lug aluminum slots would not be too hard to find.
As far as I know, same bolt pattern as early Mustang / Falcon (or Corvair), so I imagine many sets are out there someplace.
I do have a set of American Racing 14 x 6 , 4 lug wheels, new in the boxes, if anyone's interested - got em for our 63, but we might go to 5 lug, since we'd like to add the disc brakes.

:D Well someone who painted them back in the 80´s must have liked painted bumpers and trim (yes, headlight bezels, grille, doorhandle, tail lights etc. were painted flat black when I bought the car! Yuck!), but I personally don´t like ´em ;) Well, performance machines with fiberglass bumpers is a different story... And by the way, that painted front bumper doesn´t exist any more, my dear bro smashed it into some lady´s Mitsubishi (unfortunately that piece of crap had a towing hook... :( )

To the best of my knowledge, the early Mustangs / Falcons are the SAME 4 on 4.5" as a Nova ( or Corvair ).
later model (80's + ) 4 lug rustangs have a different bolt pattern, not sure the exact info.
I have not seen any 4 lugs (4.5") in a 15", I'd assume someone has them, or could custom make a set if you have the $, not too hard for someone like Boyd, etc to change the bolt circle on an existing pattern (just a few lines of code in the cnc program).
I have a set of cast alulminum (American racing ET2 knock-offs) in 14 x 6.5", new in the box.
won't be needing them after we swap to disc brakes on dad's 63 - unless of course anyone has advise on a 4 lug disc swap ?
( would save changing out the stock 3:31 posi rear ).

thanks for the kind words guys, good to know that some people are still into the 4 door I-6 combo. Still a daily driver for now, but will eventually have little more wilder 6 in it. I'm thinking a supercharged or turbo 250 mainly to have something a little different, and i think it would deffinately turn a few heads then.

yeah them's s10 stockers. i just repainted them with the argent silver rally wheel paint. for now till i get my Rocket's back from rechroming. everyone has cragars, when i stumbled across them on a car i bought for parts, i knew i would have to have them redone and put on my car.
the horns we put on with a lot of the other engine bay stuff(all in the same box), but then i decided i wanted one more coat on the car(single stage) so we retaped it and shot it. see i sprayed the front end off the car, then assebled it, and shot the back end. the paint was almost, but not exact so i decided to reshoot the whole car. might have been due to lighting, but shooting in daylight was much better.

Thanks Batman,
Had a lot going on....My Father had been fighting a battle with cancer, and passed a way 2 weeks ago, I also moved about 5 months ago.....basiclly going in too many directions...I really need to get focused...not sure what to do with the nova.....I think I already put more money into it than I should have ...not sure if I should sell her and look for a 2 door? I like the car, but others have said its only going to be worth the parts i put in it and only to a degree.
Still has the straight 6, I kinda what a v8 and ac....but there goes more money....so the question remains do I cut my losses and move on or keep it as is and say the hell with it....Enjoy:)
I need to pull the brakes back off and paint the calipers,,,,thought all the parts were painted from CPP, but it was just cast ...looked like it was painted to me...I got flash rust on them....man I hate that.
I also may sell my rims, If this is going to be a daily driver on and off, It will get wet and those wheels are high maintenance...they need to be in fair weather only.
I may go with ralleys....
Thats about it, hope all has been well with everyone on the site...I miss the chating but still have a lot of loose ends to clean up.
take care and God Bless,

I may go with ralleys....
Thats about it, hope all has been well with everyone on the site...I miss the chating but still have a lot of loose ends to clean up.
take care and God Bless,
