americangraffiti,
Hi, 13 and 3/4 in from ground to lip.
Those are 14 in. rallys with 205/70/14 tires on front,
15in. 255/60 on rear.
I also have 15 in. Weld Prostars with 205/70/15 tires up front
Look for "my '68 pics" in the 3rd gen group to see pics of the Welds. Don't think there is much of a difference but
haven't measured the Weld wheel height.

I've got a 24" measure from ground to bottom of lip front fender.......maybe we're not comparing same areas.
Do you happen to know what front springs you're running?
I've got to replace mine.....they're the originals and I have a definate creaking going on since my 427 was installed.
Any feedback appreciated (from anyone:eek: ).........I've got to order springs this week so I can get them in over the holidays (time factor).
At this point I am leaning towards the stock 6312 big block/350 AC spring. It seems this spring has the same height as the small block spring.....just has more stiffness to it.
Again........looking for information to help guide me in my spring purchase.
Happy holidays to all...........

Hi,
I measured that from ground to bottom lip near bumper.
That's the difference. You're talking to lip above the top of tire, right?? Not sure on springs, I didn't install but I think they are new stock 350 small block springs. I always think the fronts are too high on the stock springs especially when we put a lot of aluminum in the motor area. If we all had the stock motors the fronts would be lower. Just think how much cast iron manifolds and exhaust manifolds weigh??
With light headers and alum. intakes it's no wonder they look high in front. Lot of people cut one coil off and I think that looks good on many cars. I am planning to put an extra leaf or two in the rear to raise it about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches so the tires can clear better. My 255/60's barely get inside and rub once in a while over bad bumps. Going out to get your measurement again:
Ok it's :
Ground to lip above center of tire is 26 and 1/2 in.
Also did ground to center of headlight-25 and 1/2 in
Hope this helps.
Ken

Hey AG, hope I'm not too late. But I put hotchkiss lowering springs for BB on the front of mine. They work great and are very easy to install (no spring compressor needed) because they are much shorter than stock springs.

They didn't seem to lower that much at all over the stock BB springs i was using. maybe 1 inch.

Just thought i'd let you know about 'em. got em from Jegs.

Hey Ken, love the snow pics! Just keep it outta the salt!!!!

AG, 26" centerline of wheel floor to fender lip, 13 3/4" floor to bottom of fender in front of the tire. I have 26" tall tires on the car 215/70/15 i think.

Like I said, not alot of difference from the stock replacement BB coils I had. I loved how the car looked when i still had my stock 6 cylinder springs and BB. waaay low, but it handled like crap and I just didn't think it was too safe to drive. handles nice with the new springs.

What was the Hotchkis part number of the coils you put in your Nova?

I ended up using a stock TRW small block w/ac spring.......supposed to be the same as a big block.
Results were exactly what I was looking for.

Hmmmm, my car had a big block in it when I bought it. I put a small block in it. It sat too high. So, I put stock small block w/o Air springs. Still sits way too high. Aluminum heads, and intake. Headers instead of manifolds, battery in the trunk. I am like 3-4 inches from where I want to be. It sits like the engine is out of the car. Back to the drawing board:)

You might consider the Hothckis spring.......it will lower your car at least 2" inches or consider cutting a coil out of the stock spring.

Fir Na Tine: Love your 64, always thought that the ss body molding on the 64 was the best looking of the first gens. Also like your wheels a lot. I've seen them on Novas before, but yours are the first I've seen painted on the inside, nice touch.

Thanks alot Tommy.I appreciate the comments. We must be close to the same age(Im 33)because I use to cruise Ardmore and the Athens square also.Do you hit any of the local shows?

Yea real close in age, i'll be 34 in March. I usually go to the Pulaski show, and decatur each year. I keep missing Saginaw but hit some local small ones from time to time. The best ones are usually in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge each year so I make A couple trips up there if I can. A friend of mine just bought A set of those wheels like yours for his 99 S-10 and they are nice wheels. They look great on yours!

Tommy:)

SuperSport,They are 17x8 (5"bs) on rear,17x7 (standard bs)on front.Tires are 255/45/17 rear,215/50/17 front.I could get a 255/50/17 on rear.Thats what it will have on it when these tires wear out.

Thanks alot SuperSport.I had 15" torque thusts on the car first.I wanted someting different,so I went with the Salt Flats.I am really pleased with the look now.

Love those salt flat wheels. Especially the mag-painted ones. If I could afford them, with the knockoffs, I'd have 'em for my 63.

greg if you are thinking of buying 7x15 salt flats they do make them with a
4 1/2 backspace but do not show them on their website i found this out
after buying 6x15 ones for my 64

Thanks, I thought they'd be a custom order. I think the knockoffs still go for $120 each though.

Thanks alot Greg_R_63,I'm really satisfied with the Salt Flats.Since those pics were taken I have put the American Racing flat center caps(christmas present from my wife) on the car and it really made a big differnce to me.They are not quite as expensive as the knockoffs.

I had just finished removing the remnants of the vinyl roof, and primering it flat black. I plan on getting it painted all black eventually:) . I have a cowl induction hood sitting in my basement shop, waiting to be painted. I also have Comp Cams Pro Mag 1.6:1 full roller rocker arms waiting to be installed. I plan on buying a Demon Road/Speed Demon carb, and setting it on an Edelbrock intake. Eventually I think I am going to put in a new cam, but for now I need to finish my exhaust. Right now it is just headers off the block, and that's it ;) .
