If you have a large duration cam, with lots of overlap, i'm talking well over 230 @ .050 then you might need something not "off the shelf". That being said I have heard good things about the HP's. They don't run nearly as rich as the Demon's

Do you have the vac. sec. or mechanical? We ran the V.S. version on Dale's Dart with the 383 and my 410 and it worked great on both--I really liked the carb.

those carbs work great. depending on your motor, if it aint to big...i dont see you having a problem with one.

not trying to hijack or be a D-bag...but is that what a carb company has told you??? I have ran cams in the 280+ @ .050 with off the shelf cabs with no problems. Not sure why an "off the shelf" carb wouldnt work.

im going to get a double pumper, i have an old 750 double pumper that is just worn out.the idle is erratic, it leaks from the throttle shafts and now the car doesnt even want to run with it on there.the car runs fine with my vaccum carb but i dont like the way it runs with that on it.im going to try to fix my double pumper one last time, if that doesnt work im buying a new one.my carb i have now is 20 years old or so.

I said "might" as in it might work on might not. I also said I have heard good things about the HP's. Demons on the other hand are a pain to tune for part throttle. Sure it runs fine but the afr's on my car are in the 11/1 range while the wot are fine 13/1, and no matter what I do I cant get it to change. Dont know if the HP's have the same issues but I have heard good things about them, more tuneability. Seems that the bigger cammed motors need a different booster to meter fuel properly. Have you ever checked you air fuel ratios at cruise, is your car even a street car?

I ran a 750 street hp and really liked it.

As said it came out of the box and onto the intake and fired up and ran well.

I eventually tweaked the idle screws but just barely.

I have also ran the mighty demon 750 and did not like it, it was a good street carb but not for the strip imo.
I kept jetting it up but no difference on the top end it was a dog and laid over.

The Holley 4779 imo is the best 750dp out there aside from the exotics.

I agree, the 4779 is a fine all around carb for a lot of applications. I have always had better luck with the DP's rather than the Vacuum models. But then again, I am a dinsaur

i would be careful of the Proform parts if you replace the base plate,

they are bad reviews on the 'net, google leak, warped & proform.

YMMV.

i put a holley 4150 HP 950 on my 454.

bought it off craigslist for $250

needs a new bowl on one end, should be $20 off ebay

I love my 750 street Hp. I have a decent 383 with large cam and the carb works great. The jetting was real close right out of the box. The throttle response is awesome. I got mine used on ebay for $300. Car runs 12.50's all day at 2700 ft. Good luck.
