Need some help...

I bought my 68 Nova about a month ago and I am ready to put it up for the winter. I want to do some suspension work to it and have it ready for the spring.

I am not sure whether I want a stock suspension or if I want to lower the front an inch or two...kinda leaning towards the stock look.

The car is a 68 that originally had a 6 cylinder, that was taken out and a 74 350 from a pick up truck was dropped in. The tranny is a TH400 and has a 10" open rear end. It has 14" wheels for now, my buddy is going to give me a set of 15x8's for the rear and 15x7's for the front with new BFG's (not sure on the tire size yet).

What would be some good upgrades, but not budget killers (got a baby due in December), to do this winter? Also what would be the best parts to use?

Thanks in advance.

If you decide to lower, don't go too low. While it may look good it can destroy the driving fun pretty fast if you have to be concerned about bottoming out. Just make sure all of the front end compoenets are up to snuff and replace those that aren't. If front bushings are are bad, replace them. it is a lot fo work but anyone can do it. Likewise front ball joints.

I have looked up some pictures of Nova's both lowered and stock. I am now set on the stock look.

Should I go with the stock rubber rebuild kits found on the various resto websites or should I go with a poly kit (i.e. energy suspensions)?

Also, what would be good shocks and springs to go with for the stock look?
