Question on Exhaust - '72

I just bought my '72 Nova and I have a question about how to handle the exhaust system. The previous owner stopped in the middle of whatever he was planning for it, and the exhaust pipes stop at the muffler:

I don't want to just turn them down there. The fumes are coming in the car/I think in Pennsylvania, the pipes have to go past the passenger compartment/even if it were quieter, it would still be the loudest thing my neighborhood has ever heard.

And so my question is: should I get the Flowmasters that are pre-bent for a 3rd gen Nova, like these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-15801/? Or should I go to a muffler shop and get some custom bent? Mostly, I don't want to buy the wrong thing.

id let a shop do it man, remove the piping and mufflers your self and have a shop put on all of it custom unless u wanna keep the mufflers, right now im in the process of getting a new exhaust system, i just removed the all the piping and mufflers to save me some money from them having to remove it, but im gonna get a shop to make me a full system with mufflers and all

I would just have a shop continue on from the existing mufflers. If the pipe in front looks good and isn't leaking there would be no reason to change it. Good luck with the Nova!

If you go to page 3 of that thread - I have some pics of mine on there. I had what you have - a custom exhaust shop bent me some tail pipes and welded it all up for $150....

Oscar - that was $150 just from the mufflers I already had, back to behind the tires like in the pics. So chesteadman could probably have them add the pipes to what he has already for around that price. If I had done the whole exhaust system it would have been probably $400 or so. Now Ya know I ain't THAT lucky...:D:D:D:D

Appreciate the advice... don't know how I missed the other thread, haha. I think I might go with custom pipes and leave the mufflers, in the interest of saving money. $150 sounds like a pretty good deal, considering the pre-bent flowmasters are more than that by themselves. I think I'm liking the exits behind the back wheels, looks pretty classy.
