So I ran the vin/body tags and it came up as a 4cyl car. Has anyone even heard of this? Didn't know there was ever a 4cyl in our cars.

I guess you could found this on novaresourcce.com

1969

4-cylinder
AA - 153cid w/3-speed manual
AB - 153cid w/Powerglide or Torque Drive

Yep, it could be. That would mean your VIN starts out 11227, yes?
They were made with 4 cyl from 68-70 (3rd gen) and are quite rare but not valuable because nobody wants them. I myself would love to find a real nice pristine one to play with.

I had a 1st Gen 4 banger. I pulled it out so I could double my cylinder count. I advertised the 4 cylinder motor in the local newspaper and had guys calling me all day long wanting the motor to put in boats. Kind of like the stock car and drag guys wanting our powerglides as fast as we can pull them out.

Yeah I had a 69 4Cyl Car a few years back. Car was solid and Im sure the first thing the new owner did was remove the engine for an 8. It ended in Australia!

The above is correct for U.S. built cars. There were no 4 cylinder Chevy IIs or (Acadians) built in Canada after 1965.....and we didn't miss them one little bit:).

I ran the engine casting and it is a one year only, 1969 327 two bolt main.

Thanks for the help guys. Making sure I wasn't nuts.

In 1969, the B body Impala, Caprice etc. line had the 327 as its base V8, up from the 307 in 1968. I believe those were rated at 235 horsepower.

If memory serves me right, I think we loaded the entire motor into the trunk of a big car (Plymouth) and he was able to shut the trunk lid.

Yeah when I sold mine a few years back, the selling point of the car WAS NOT the drive by any means! LOL!
