I need to install an aftermarket overflow tank for my radiator and I'm curious where others have mounted theirs. Post pictures of your 3rd gen please! Details on which tank would be appreciated too.... Thanks!

Ryan V64SS 19th-August-2009, 11:13 PM Check out NOVA404 his photobook is linked to his avitar and he has a real nice overflow setup all mounted to the rad. Racinfan83 20th-August-2009, 02:36 PM I don't have a pic - but mine is hidden in the fender behind the battery.... 71'Nova 383 20th-August-2009, 09:28 PM I don't have a pic - but mine is hidden in the fender behind the battery.... Which tank and how did you install it? ioldsnut 20th-August-2009, 10:51 PM Here's a pic of mine,, I dont remember what size it is, but you can look these up from a hot rod shop. I just pop riveted the brackets to the rad. support and ran the hose underneith. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s137/ioldsnut/PC310122.jpg 71'Nova 383 21st-August-2009, 10:50 AM Here's a pic of mine,, I dont remember what size it is, but you can look these up from a hot rod shop. NovaSS396L34 21st-August-2009, 03:24 PM If you get a overflow bottle out of a 1975-1979 Nova or Omega or Ventura or Apollo it will mount perfectly behind your battery and under the pass fender. I put one in my 1974 Nova race car. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/StarRacing/MVC-121S-4.jpg 69LT1Nova 21st-August-2009, 03:33 PM If you get a overflow bottle out of a 1975-1979 Nova or Omega or Ventura or Apollo it will mount perfectly behind your battery and under the pass fender. That might be a good solution for me as well. 71'Nova 383 21st-August-2009, 04:24 PM If you get a overflow bottle out of a 1975-1979 Nova or Omega or Ventura or Apollo it will mount perfectly behind your battery and under the pass fender. I put one in my 1974 Nova race car. Really!? I love that idea'r. My car has factory A/C and the drier would have been mounted there but I mounted it next to the radiator. So that hole is open. Can you fill that tank or is that cap on the bottom? How does it mount? Pictures man! LOL.:yes: NovaSS396L34 21st-August-2009, 05:12 PM You can see it in the upper right corner of this picture. I'll see if I can find another picture. Otherwise I'll have to go outside and open my trailer and take a picture for you. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/StarRacing/MVC-211F-1.jpg NovaSS396L34 21st-August-2009, 05:16 PM Here it is. I knew I took one at one time. http://inlinethumb11.webshots.com/3146/1122404932045544600S600x600Q85.jpg (http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1122404932045544600NRjUxm) 69LT1Nova 21st-August-2009, 05:49 PM Looks like I'll have to do some junkyard crawlin'. Too bad they don't re-pop that part. 69LT1Nova 21st-August-2009, 05:56 PM FYI to any others... there is also the 73-74 overflow bottle. Too bad this won't work for me and my remote power steering... but a good solution for other people. It mounts between the wheel well and the fender on the passenger's side. http://i3.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/ef/1d/22ff_1.JPG 71'Nova 383 22nd-August-2009, 12:03 AM Looks like I'll have to do some junkyard crawlin'. This made my weekend. :) crazy88 22nd-August-2009, 02:37 PM its kinda hard to see, but its a jaz recirculating catch can. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a148/larryelcamino/69%20nova/IMG_4404.jpg kirk69nova 23rd-August-2009, 12:53 AM I used a windshield washer fluid container. I bent up some brake line and routed it between the rad and support. The lid on the container is from a 73 Nova catch can so it has a functional inlet tube and outlet tube. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj84/kirkryan6/engine/003.jpg better shot of brake tube http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj84/kirkryan6/engine/001.jpg Ryan V64SS 27th-August-2009, 12:11 AM Here's mine, the overflow is a hydraulic oil filter that has AN ends on it so the top is a plug that I drilled a hole in for a vent and on the bottom is a -4 that will run to the -4 in my filler neck using aluminum tubing. I made the shroud myself and the rad is a griffin. http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss212/ryanv64ss/IMG_3767.jpg BLYOTH 27th-August-2009, 09:24 PM I have often wondered if I could rig up my winshield washer bottle. I didn't want to run the lines to the washer pump so I just have the bottle sitting there doing nothing. bigc 27th-August-2009, 11:18 PM Not the best pic but you can see it mounted to the passenger side of my radiator. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b62/bigc3031/Nova/IMG_2718.jpg 71'Nova 383 27th-September-2009, 11:22 PM Bought one for a 75-79 Nova and installed it. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd149/haymel69/Nova/Motor%20Compartment/copyNova424.jpg NovaSS396L34 28th-September-2009, 03:22 AM Bought one for a 75-79 Nova and installed it. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd149/haymel69/Nova/Motor%20Compartment/copyNova424.jpg Looks good! I told you it would fit! 71'Nova 383 28th-September-2009, 10:31 AM Looks good! I told you it would fit! LOL, yes you did. I don't think one could get it in though without removing the battery tray. It was tight. Lets hope I never have to replace the side marker bulb! Oh yeah, just as a FYI. If you buy an aftermarket cap like I did, seal the vents in it before doing some hard launches!! It's amazing how much can come out of just the vents! LOL. | |
