I am taking pre-orders for the first gen T-shirts and hoodies until February 21st. To place an order, please reply to this thread with the quanity, size & color. - For example:

Since this is 1st gen design, I figured I should find a way to open it up to a larger group of people. I thought that not having any text on it would do this.

I don't think I want to put anything on it that says Chevy or Chevrolet b/c of copyright reasons.

well since I only make about $3 on each shirt, it'll be a while before the royalties will be worth the paper that the check is printed on :D:D

If I'm not able to generate enough interest in this design outside of the SoCal community, I'll probably make them with the SoCal text. I've already decided to do some stickers.

IMO, if there is no text, I would say big logo on the front. If you are going to add text I would go with a small one front and big one back(maybe just the text on the front and both graphic and text on back?).

I'd buy one or two as well. I'd prob still buy a SoCal one also since I grew up out there.

What if I did the currently pictured logo small on the front, then did the reverse shot big on the back (same shot, but as if you were looking at the back of the car)?

I can see if my printer has the bowling shirts available. Often the problem with doing a one-off shirt is that I don't get any sort of pricebreak, so I end up selling it for what I paid for it.

I have been thinking more and more about doing small logo on front and big logo on the back. Front logo would be as pictured here, but the back logo would be of the back of the car. I'll post something when I get a rough draft(spent a few hours already working on one).

It's a possibility - Just depends on the demand and how much free time I have. Most of the places I've tried to do shirts with won't give me a decent price unless I have a minimum of 50 shirts. Even at this price break, the margin is very slim. I enjoy doing the designs usually and I gotta admit it's cool seeing people wear your work, but taking the orders and shipping is very boring and tedious. If I mess up one order and give a shirt away for free to make up for it, it can wipe out the profit for 2 or 3 orders... sometimes it's hardly worth the effort. The first order of Longroof Society shirts I did, I sold around 60 shirts and about 50 stickers. I'd estimate that I had 50+ hours into design work, taking orders, shipping etc. After all was said and done, I made about $150. :eek::eek:

I like the last design. I agree with small logo in the front and big in the back with so cal lettering. It don't matter to me which pic you use in the back, whether the front of the car or rear as long as it's a first gen nova. Count me in for two, poss. more.

I would buy one if it was a a 4 door with text i like small on front big on back.

make sure that you get permission for the NOVA or CHEVY name.

my best friend use to have a mini truck back in the days of mini trucks.

a show truck it was garfield and oddie theme.the truck won many car shows and made it into a magazine cover.

next thing you know jim davis lawers are sueing the sheet out of my friend.claiming that everything my friend owns is because of the money he has made from garfield.

long story short.everything worked out he had to repaint the entire truck by the body shop the lawers said to take it too and watch all characters sanded away to bare metaland he had to pay for that.

also he had to pay some fees.

sad part is he never made money off of the paint job.but becase it had images and the names on the truck he had to pay.

you cant get sued over the image but chevy is looking to get money so
just cover your butt before you put any print that has the word nova or chevy.

other than that print anything on the shirt you like.

My guess is the designer tried to appeal to the widest audience possible, ie all gens, most used colors, etc. Just like SNS header, go figure. I don't think you can do both, i.e. be specific to first gen and not have a variety of variations. (Dept of redundancy dept just slipped in there.)
I like the monochrome. I have a 65. Kinda same but different. But, if the were a 62-64 coupe, sedan, modoor and longroof done in that monochrome it becomes reprsentative and the fact there's no 65 is kinda a non-issue.

I've already sold about 150 shirts with that logo on the back. If I were to do your idea, I'd probably remove the SoCal text and replace it with something else.

If you send a check, you can do it early. If you do MO, I will wait until I have the shirts beforehand.

The white ink will not show up on a light colored shirt. To do the design on a light color, I'd have to rework it and have two additional screens made - that's why all the color choices are dark. The cost of the new screens would wipe out a large chunk of the 'profit' on this project.

Not really sure, shipping zones maybe? It was $10.25 for the 2 shipments to Michigan that I did. I expected them to be about $5.60. Not a big deal, it just caught me by surprise!
