Speedometer squeek

While driving my 71 yesterday the speedometer head was squeeking very loudly. The sound was annoying to say the least. Anyone else have this problem, and if so what repairs worked. Thanks Dale :cool:

Pull it out from behind the cluster, slide the inner cable out and coat it with white grease, it should be good for another 40 years!:yes:

EDIT; this may also work from the tranny end, (removing the inner cable to lube it) I can't remember for sure though.

I thought about pulling the cable out of the back of the cluster. I`ve also got some of the old white lithium grease. Thanks
