I'm thinking about buying one of these to put on my 66. I'd like to get rid of the stock lower arms and strut rods. For those of you who have installed one of these on their Nova maybe you could tell me how you like it. Whats the best way remove the factory rivets holding the strut rod brackets on? Grind the heads off or drill them out?

I drilled a hole in the rivet heads, then snapped them off with a hammer and chisel. That's the worst part of the install.

I'm very happy with the kit, made a huge improvement.

Here's my install writeup: http://www.bracketracer.com/nova/cpplca/cpplca.htm

I really just wanted the basic kit to take care of the lower arms. I didn't really want to take the upper arms and springs off. One other thing I was curious about was if anyone had kept their stock lower arms and used the kit from Global West that takes the place of the stock eccentric bolts and washers?

Chuck is a great guy and a friend for life, I highly recommend his product, it is absolutely the best upgrade you can make the the front of your nova.:yes:

As others stated, either grinding off the heads, or air chiseling them off works very well. If grinding, be mindful of where those sparks go!! The little bits imbed themselves into whatever window glass is in the grinders spray pattern. Cover them up with cardboard or a fireproof blanket...

Well I wasn't going to grind them off unless I just absolutely had to. I didn't want all of the metal shavings and dust all over the car. I like the idea of drilling and chiseling.

The camber and caster are set simultaneously using the two sets of eccentrics per arm at the front and rear control arm mounting points.

So there won't be a need to shim at upper control arm?

So there won't be a need to shim at upper control arm?

You will only need to shim the upper control arm if you run a 25"+ front tire, and want to increase caster more than stock specs while not moving the wheel forward in the opening.

The kit has eccentrics to adjust alignment to stock specs so you would normally not touch your upper control arms.

That is good news.
