Ford 9" fitment

Many other posts come so close to answering my question, but not quite. I have a 9" from a '58 Fairlane. I know it's almost a drop in with the spring perches and what not. Does the offset of the "pig" pose any problems assuming the rear is centered with respect to the axle flanges? It's going into a '62 convertible. Thanks in advance. Happy Easter.

I have not had any issues when doing these kinds of swaps but if the car is lowered too much the drive shaft may get close to the tunnel on the back end.

How far are the perches offset from the center section? I run a 9", but mine was cut down from a truck rear end to stock specs.

Remember the drivetrain (engine, trans, including rearend yoke etc.) is offset to the passenger side in all early Nova's...they are are NOT centered.

You want a 1 - 3 degrees of angle in the driveline to keep the needle bearings in the U-joints moving. Mopar usually did this by shifting the rear to one side. If the angle is too severe, you will wear out U-joints.

tnblkc230wz, I thought the 1-3 degrees offset requirement was in a vertical plane not a horizontal one. Or is it both?
