HELP working on a 67 column. i got my rack and pinion all in. got the steering u joints and shaft in, bolted up to stock column. NOW FOR THE QUESTION. is there a bearing in the end of the column. there's all kind's of play. turning the wheel feels sloppy. up the in the air it felt fine, but on the ground was a whole another story. heidts front clip... so how do i fix this problem. i would like a flaming river tilt column. but i would like to get the car back on the road first.. if this is not enough info i have got more

You need to come up with something similar to this.The stock bearing is weak and will not take much load.

The lower bearing in a 67 is in a plastic housing, and often the housing is worn. Try purchasing a column saver kit and it should eliminate your column slop.

I like a sealed bearing on the end of the column tube. Fairly easy to incorporate with all the various ID and OD sizes available with bearings. JR

Yep, column saver bro....I think IDIDIT and Flaming river both sell them, as well as ebay as 404 posted.......
Does this mean you got the beast running??????
