OK I have a 65 nova with a disc brake conversion on the front. obviously this set up has pushed my wheels out more.

here is the problem. i don't know which kit it is ( i bought it this way) and I just purchased some draglites with a 15x3.5 in the front and a 165r15 tire but the tire rubs on the front fender bad. (i cant drive it this bad)

so what i want to know is, can I buy different rotors? or should i sell the front rims and try to buy new front's with a different offset? like a inch more offset to compensate for the rotor.

edit: I just did a search on NEW wheels. soooo can i buy different rotors? new rims is way too much

Most disc brake kits push the wheels outward about 5/8". CPP offers a zero offset brake kit that will bring the wheels back in the fender.

hmmm that's kinda drastic to change the whole setup.....

i just had a friend come over and turn the wheel back and forth and it rubs in the bottom front corner of the fender. maybe just a small cutting would work?

Thats common with first gens. Not sure what kit you have but they vary. Most are 3/8" per side. You don't mention what size or tire you have now?

Has the car been aligned since the disc install?

Ahh...check your caster. You may need to shim the upper A-arm to gain caster and pull the wheel back toward the rear a bit during alignment to gain fender clearance and bring caster back into spec.

i had the same problem on my 63 ss,looked like someone dropped a 800 pound weight on the hood and pushed the wheels out,and the tire hit the lower corner of the fender, sold that goofy setup and going with a cpp zero offset disk kit, that keeps the wheel in the stock location, even with a negative offset wheel it still will look goofy on the car and still rub the lower fender.on first gen 24 inch tall tire is about the max you can run up front.

really? I like this idea.

but dont the a arms bolt to the top of the frame? vs the side? does it make a difference what i am saying?

yea the dam wheels look like their stretched out to far forward

edit: these are the wheels im taking off and replacing with a 15x3.5 rim and a 165r15 tire

The first step is to check alignment. A decrease in caster will move the wheel rearward, and an increase frontward. If you shim the forward bolt of your upper A-arm you will increase caster and very slightly move the wheel rearward. I had the same issue as you and used an 1/8" shim on the front bolt of the UCA to gain ~.5 deg caster. This allowed me to run a 26" tire on the front with disc brakes and no tire interference issues. I have a 67 so it may be a bit different, but the overall effect is the same.
