Posted this on the other forum but thought I would get you guys and gals:D ideas on this idea:

If money was of no concearn and you were fully capable of completing the project would you:

Would you like to have a 3rd gen nova convertible like the chevelles or camaros back in the day. I personally think it would be awesome to do.

Yes I know about the difficulty in making that happen, just a brainstormed idea, if you could afford it and were able to have it would you want to do it.

I love this idea:yes:

post up your thoughts if anyone has photoshop skills that would be cool to add as well!!

haha I know it sounds awesome, and I know how difficult it would be to make it look proffessional, not up to tackling something like this, just imagining it.

imagine a hardtop convertible:rolleyes:

You would probably have to play with it in a 3D photoshop to see the best way and place to make the cut. The chevelle has similar lines, so it should do able.

If you could work out the hydraulics and the folding structure, a hard top convertible may not be that bad to pull off. Use a 73-74 hatchback for the trunklid, and have the top retract from the A pillars to the base of the rear window. The hatchback lid would fill in the rest of the area. Make a frame for it so it could be double hinged. When you pop the trunk, it would hinge on the frame and open like a regular trunk. The latch would need to be attached to this framing also, so when the hydraulics lift for the top to retract the lid will stay closed. Then hinge the frame at the rear so it can lift up for the top.

Convert the front doors to a coup style door, and the 1/4's as well, then adapt and fab using 68/69 Camaro parts to seal the windows to the roof and each other. You may have to have the glass cut for this, but start by using 73/74 doors so you can have 1 peice door glass.

I think it would be an interesting project to try.

I like the idea, but a convertible in the Pacific Northwest is not for me.
I hope that someone would do one. It would be interesting.

I made one from a 72 many years ago. Made subframe connectors, removed the trim panels and welded the doors from the inside then reinstalled trim panels.
It had a vinyl top so I cut it extra long and folded the extra vinyl under by the sunvisors. Sail panel area got filled with great stuff and covered in vinyl.
Had no top so I poked a few holes in the floor to let the water drain.
It was absolutely the funnest car I ever had.
Don't know if I ever took any pictures.
Would love to have it back, not sure what happened to it.

wow cool it looks great as a convertible, not a fan of the color with the one from craigslist, but the body profile is great.

tunneu cover looks great too, but I would have it body matching, black, or match the interior

the sectional hard top, sounds awesome like those that are on some of the mercedes

yeah I thought of the convertible idea, when I seen the chevelles, and camaros and thought wow what a neat idea

Cool idea, but I don't personally like convertibles.

I'd like to see both t tops and one with a removable mid section (like vipers and such - name escapes me at the moment) just to see what it looks like.

the removable section is referred to as a targa

like the honda del sol//toyota supra//dodge viper//

t-top that would be interesting not sure if it would be great looking or not though
