I am in the process of a restore for a 74 Chevy Nova. Mine is pretty bad for interior parts.
Now I keep looking online and it seems that the 3rd generation Nova's does not have restoration parts available for the interior, or at least not much.
So I would like to know WHY?
Can I just redo the interior with 72 door panels and rear panels? I know that the 3rd gens did a different window thing which makes it a tad different. Any Ideas other than Ebay or used parts which require luck?

The 72 and earlier panels won't fit your 73-74.
Lately, I've had a stash of 73-74 stuff that I'm putting on Ebay. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Actually 68 to 74 are all considered third generation by most folks. But the 73 and 74 do sometimes draw the short straw on repo parts that are different. Just fewer of them and less popular, I guess. :)

I'm one of those guys that is into the 73-4 3rd gens.
Parts are a pain !
When I find a rusted out 2 door with enough goodies.........
Buy em right, gut the interior and 73-4 special stuff, and send em down the road.

Yeah for some reason the 73-74 model year appeals to me more. I just like them more. The 4 tail lights and the marker lights in the grill is my preference. The panel on the fender near the headlights completes the look.
It took me 8 years to find a cheap 74 as it was the only year I was interested in not knowing that I would have a hard time finding parts.:o

Without insulting anyone, the truth is the earlier 68-70 got the attention for repop parts because of the popularity of the BB's car being restored, the 71-72 were benefactors of this. As demand grows more and more the aftermarket may expand to include the later 3rd gens. Some proof of this is many repop parts are for the higher end models, such as seat cover are only available in the Strado pattern. The Chevelle and Camaro lead the way in aftermarket availability do to the high demand.
So the bottom line is simply that, supply and demand.

You can buy new door panels, dash pads, and other interior parts from part suppliers like Classic Industries. I own a 73 hatchback and parts for these models are hard to find.
