Well we have another 68 L78 nova on the site. Yes it is a sequoia green car. That makes three Sequoia green 68 L78 nova's. Mine, Tom Williams, and now Freds. I will let him reply to share the story on the car!

Jason, thanks for posting the pix for me.
Yep, this one's mine. I bought it in 1974 from my uncle, who bought it in 1968.
The car was delivered to Kurdy Chevrolet in Richmond Indiana, and was used as a demonstrator car for a few months, then sold through Wills Brothers Auto Auction in Muncie Indiana. Before I bought it from my uncle, it was reputed to be one of 50 special purpose built cars, but that lore is likely confused with the Gibbs TH400 cars. The explanation I got for the auction sale was that after the treatment as a demonstrator car, they did not want to sell it as a new car, or even a car from their lot. It sold for $3300, and was purchased by Bill Knott of Richmond who kept it for about three months before selling it to my uncle, Glen Meek, who also lives in Richmond. It was drag raced at Muncie Dragway, Bunker hill, and Tri-state Dragstrip, but had a heavy reputation for it's street wins. I put it up against other cars many times, and never lost a street race. It seemed to be one of those cars where everything was just right - that all the parts and pieces resulted in an exceptional combination that worked great, and it just seemed faster than the other 375hp chevies. Even though the car has been off the road since 1977, except for a few mile in the past few years, it still has it's local repuation, which I think is what I enjoy the most.
The first time I took it to the dragstrip (mid-74), I was approached by someone who recognized the car, and was dissapointed that he missed out on the sale. He shared some street racing history with me, and told me that while my uncle had it, this car was regularly beating cars that ran in the high 11's in street races. The only changes from pure stock were the addition of 8" JC Penny slicks, a set of headers purchased from a vendor at the 1968 US Nationals, and a set of Carrerra "Wheelie-Bar" traction bars that had been clamped to the springs. The best time I ever got from it were 12 teens with slicks and 13.14 with street tires, but my uncle always told me I was doing something wrong because he was always able to get into the 11's - I agree that I wasn't much of a driver and never knew what kind of time I was going to get.
I had many pictures of the car from 1970 up, including restoration documentation, but lost them in a house fire 4 years ago. I do have two pictures from 77/78, one doing a burnout at Muncie, and the other showing the car under a snowdrift in the blizzard of 78.
I've always been curious about other cars like it, and am really excited to find others the same color - I've never seen another in person, but am enjoying at least seeing pictures and hearing about the "other" ones.

I do want to point out that the original engine is in the garage in storage. Right now I have a different low compression BB that I can run on pump gas, and without fear of damaging the good engine.

Sorry Brent - it's fishing season man! The white bass are running and I've caught my limit 4 times in the past two weeks - Plus my wife has created quite a honey-do list that keeps me hopping (and gives me fishing eligibility). The lady who has worked for e the past 6 years retired and I haven't gotten her position filled so my workload has essentially doubled aat work.
I have spent a couple days in the shop, but focused on my dragster - I really want to get it going this year.
My problem is that I have too many things/projects I want to get done. I want to get the dragster ready, and get the 64 wagon beefed up to use as a tow vehicle ( and build a lightweight trailer that the wagon can handle). I'm trying to get them ready for the Hot Rod Reunion on Bowling Green mid June - but also, I'm going to become a grandpa around June 22 so we're remodeling a room for the baby. Add to all that that is that Drag week starts and ends at muncie dragway this fall - I'd like to get the Gremlin ready for that - I think it would have a good chance at some mag coverage plus would be fun to be part of. I think a wheelstanding street Gremlin would get some attention!
I also spent an afternoon with some sandpaper on the old chevyll gasser and was able to find that some of the old lettering still exists under the current paint job - Pepper Shaker, yellow lettering on black paint. (you've probably figured ou by now that I have some kind of attntion disorder :) )
Bottom line is that the 68 is still in the garage without plates so far this year (sad stories huh?)
My aunt did try to find some old pics fof the 69 or me in her collection of old photos, but no luck. On the positive side, I did get a Kurdys Chevrolet license plate frame (the original dealer), but no, I haven't unwrapped the block to get the pad pix you want.
