71 heart transplant help?

well guys we are fixing to shoe horn a 5.3 truck motor and tranny into my broinlaws 71. I was just wondering if any one here has done it and would know the ins and outs. also if any one can find a mag artical covering this swap it would be very helpful thanks rob

Muscle Car did a project called Blue hair,Try a search on it.
Not sure which engine they used but they did use a LS series.
What year is the 5.3?
Some of the early years were cast iron block aluminum heads.
I believe they are all aluminum block aluminum heads.

I know there are a few LSx conversions on this site, different searchs will find them.

Check out "ls1tech.com" in the hybrid and conversion section. There are a bunch of Nova and first gen Camaro conversions done. I spend alot of time on that site as I am planing a LSx conversion in the future. You will find all the info you will ever need there.

As stated, one of the big muscle car mags installed a 5.7 or a 5.3 fuel injected motor in a 3rd gen in the last year, see if you can email them for some info.
