Distribution block ??

I'm in the process of buying parts to swap drums for discs on my 69 going the manual route with drums on the rear. I'm going to go with a 68 corvette manual master cylinder with a 1" bore. I have searched this site numerous times, trying to find the answers to my questions. Some have been answered and some have not. Almost seems like the more I read the more confused I get.
1. What is the difference between a distribution block and a proportioning valve?
2. Can I use my stock manual drum brake distribution block and just install an adjustable prop valve for the rear drum brakes? If so can I install the adjustable prop valve to the rear brake outlet of the distribution block then install the single line going to the rear to the prop valve exit port? Does this sound right?

I also read on here somewhere that you can take some type of check valve out of a drum brake M/C and use it for a front disc/drum setup? If thats the case then I wouldn't need to buy the adjustable prop valve, cause there is currently not one on my car, unless removing the valve requires one.:turn::turn::turn:

When I installed the Aerospace brakes on my 69, at first I changed nothing else--later I switched to an aluminum Mopar M/C and I still have all the other stock parts on the car after 10 years--stops just fine for me, but I've never gone much more than 137 mph. (at Carlsbad's VERY short shut-off area)

Thanks for the quick response bowtie0069. I'm glad to hear the stock brake hardware worked, hopefully it will work for me. Thanks.

Here is a good FAQ from Master Power Brakes site. It helped me a lot when switching over to 4 wheel discs.

I'm doing the same conversion with one of my 69's, I using a 68 Nova manual disc brake Master cylinder and I'm leaving the proportioning valve that is in the car. The gent at NAPA used to be a GM parts guy and said the drum and disc prop valves are the same for 69.
