So I've been looking for a 383 crate to replace the 307 in my 73 Nova.
Blueprint has got this one for $4K now...how does it look to you engine experts?

Was looking to hook it up with a new TH400 and some 3.73 gears...what kinda torque converter should I be looking at for street use...2500 or 3000 stall?
Also, will I need anything other than a new crossmember to put a TH400 in a previous TH350 car?
Thanks for any info!

that is a pretty intense 383...looks pretty good for about the same price.
I noticed that the Blueprint Engine doesn't have a forged crank or pistons...and I've heard that is a good thing to have. I'm guessing if I had the blueprint I wouldn't want to add many more bolt ons to it in the future without forged internals.
Is there an HP or torque threshold or rule-of-thumb where it's good to have forged?

Just dropped that Blueprint 383 in my 70. I'll post some sound clips and video's once I get it broken in. It's hard to give my full opinion yet cause I've been tip-toe-in around town. It is really hard not to stomp on it. It sounds fricken awesome though and has a good bark to it.

yeah their alum head / forged 383 looks nice!
SFbay, what exhaust did you go with? I was thinking Thrush tubes or maybe some Spintech mufflers...may do something creative with the headers/exhaust as well.

For now I'm still running exhaust manifolds (i know...i know....) into a 2.5 flowmaster system (muffler behind the axle 2 inlet / 2 outlet) w/ a crossover. I've got headers but I am waiting till I get some more ****$. I feel like its sounds great right now. Lumpy idle and when I hit about 2600 rpms a growl is emitted (its sweeeet). Have got about 700 miles on the virgin motor. Let my brother drive it to Sacramento today so by manana I should be able to stomp on it a little. Cant f-ing wait. I'll try and post some sound clips by the weekend (the 383 i bought is the 405 hp / 440 tq one)
