What was the difference on the 73-74 Novas? What was on the Standard Novas and what was on the Custom Novas from the factory?

'73 had different front and rear bumpers, an optional sky roof, and standard V8 was a 307cid, to name a few.

According to my '74 brochure, all '74 Novas had improved bumper system. Front and rear bumpers retract up to 2" on minor impact, and then return through the action of twin cylinders. 350cid was the standard V8 engine, which offered increased performance. Aluminum hubcaps, polished and anodized, for easier installation (weigh 1/3 as much as the steel caps they replace. New combination seat and shoulder belt system with inertia reel freedom of movement. Side-guard beams, located in the doors, for added protection in the even of side impact.

Nova Custom models had bright roof drip moldings, special fender and rocker panel lower molding, special front fender "Nova Custom" nameplate, Bumper impact strips, bright parking light and taillight accents, glove compartment light, cigarette lighter, 10" day/night rearview mirror and luggage compartment mat. Color-keyed cut-pile carpeting, bright instrument cluster accents, right front door dome light switch and special floor and hood insulation.

The vinyl interior on my present 74 (Custom) has the Deluxe pattern on the seats. That translates to a few more feet of piping/seaming in the pattern.
The standard 74s I have had sported the blank perforated vinyl upholstery.

'73 didn't have the bowtie badge on the grill, but on the hood the "Nova" emblem had a small bowtie on the right side of the "a".

Also, I believe that the '74 Nova Custom grill badge had gold bowtie insert while the standard Nova was silver.
