Anybody running an 18 inch wheel on a 62-65?Im looking at 18-7 on the front and a 18-7 1/2 on the rear.Dont ask about the odd ball size, this is as wide a wheel that will fit on the rear of a 64.For tires Im looking at 215-40 and 235-35.

i bolted on a 18x8 wheel with 245/40 tire to see how it fit.if the backspace was right it looked like it would have worked with no rubbing.my backspace on that wheel is 4.5"
4 3/4-4 7/8 backspace would be perfect.

Ive got a set of 18-10 billet ralleys and Id like to put them on my 64,theres a company in L.A that will resize these and Id like to go with an 8 inch wheel on the rear but its just too wide so Id like to push it as wide as possible so it looks like 7-1/2 is all Im going to get.Im thinking that an 18 inch wheel might be too big on an early car but would like to see for myself to settle this idea once and for all.Ive got a 16-7 on the rear now and with the tires Im looking at its within a few 10ths of an inch of being the same size as the 16 inch tires on the car.Im thinking 6-1/2 on the front and 7-1/2 on the rear.Heres a pictures of the car with the 16s.http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a136/FLYTYM/IMG_0004-5.jpgHeres a pictures of the 18s,pictures not the best.http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a136/FLYTYM/Corvette.006Small.jpg

If you have room for a 235/40 tire, you should have room for an 8 inch rim. That tire really needs at least an 8 inch rim.

An 8 inch wheel would come too close to the leaf spring and the tire Im look at is a 235-40-18,its pretty much the same dimensions as the tire thats on the car right now.Id really like to see a side profile of a 62-65 with 18 inch wheels on it.

I've got a 16x8 with a 5 inch bs on my 64. It's a little close to the lip, but with a 5 1/4 bs I believe it would work.
