MANUAL STEERING BOX? What fits a 70?The Big Al 5th-November-2008, 12:26 PM I know 68-72 manual will be the same. 73? 74? What else works? Model? Year? Also pitman arm??? Thanks Al 1970novaguy 6th-November-2008, 02:38 PM My came of of a 72 Omega and I also used the pitman arm( I bought the pitman arm new at CarQuest) 67-69 camaro ??- 74 Omega, Ventura, GTO, Apalo 66-67 chevelle, and el-camino, the box is the same but not the pitman arm. These are just some that I know off. Hope this helps a little bigtom72 6th-November-2008, 02:48 PM what about an s10 steering box 71SS454 6th-November-2008, 07:13 PM Pretty much any manual box from the "classic" cars will work. I know any F body/x body box would work. I've heard the S-10 box is a direct bolt in as well. How about a Corvette or Corvair box? I don't see what would be different there either. Same with the A bodies 66-72. The manual box in my Firebird (67) is from a 71 Malibu. underatree 11th-November-2008, 09:33 PM While the s-10 box bolts right in.The steering coupler is different. However I read in the new car craft that the rag joint out of a 2wd chevy truck from 73-87 will connect the two togother. Also I read the s-10 box along with the camaro box doesn't have enough to "travel"To turn the wheels the lock to lock.I am not sure if this is going to be an issue since my car should mainly be for 1/4 mile runs.. 68chevyll 12th-November-2008, 08:36 PM My manual box is from a 67 Camaro. bowtie0069 12th-November-2008, 09:22 PM http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/6723,960_1965-1991-GM-525-Manual-Steering-Box.html | |
