hey guys,
im having trouble deciding which height of spring to order.
calvert offers +1, -1, -2.5 and stock height.
i kind of like my car the way it sits...maybe an inch TALLER.
thinking about going with the -1's.
this is not a question that calvert can really answer for me.
just wanted your thoughts from those who have them.

thanks in advance

I talked to them and wanted my 67 to sit the same and they recommended the 1 inch drop springs and it sat way to low.It is no problem they will work with you to achieve the height you want.i called and they said no problem we will send you out a different rear? half of the spring to try. They even included a return shipping label for the incorrect ones. Calvert Racing is a great company to deal with.

I went with -2.5
I will have to check the spring rate weight.

IF you want your car the way it is.. go with stock height.

just a thought.
good luck

I have stock height splits on mine with a 1" lowering block. I wish I would have got the lowered springs!

i actually think yours sits nice!
do you have a pic or an idea of how much taller/higher it was with the stock split monos without the 1 inch lowering block?
did it actually lower it an inch?
i will post a pic of mine tonight.
thanks

The only other pics I have were when I got the car and it had air shocks with sagging monos. I am happy with how it sits ( I do want to lower the front about a 1/2-3/4" more) but I would rather it sit the way it does without the blocks! Hope this helps!!

you think i will maintain this stock height with the calvert stock height monos?

Is that a 275/60 in the rear? Your tire seems to fit just like mine , if so then yours appears to be lowered or sagged allready! It is easy to put a lowering block in if it sits to high but it hard to raise it back up if it is too low!

yeah...
you should see the right side- it sits lower by one inch.
these are stock sagging monoleafs.
i like the left side but the right side sits too low for me.
i think im going to order the stock height split monos tomorrow.
thanks for your time.

You will be happy!! Like I said, you could always put a lowering block in it if it sits too high!

nice pics sooner1! what size is the back rim? thanks

the rear has:
275/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Radials
15 x 8 inch Weld Pro Star Wheel with 5.5 inch back spacing.

FYI:
I just ordered th calvert split monos: -1 spring height with u bolts and other hardware, and rancho 99124 shocks.
will have to wait on the caltrac bars. this was expensive enough!

the guys at calvert are in fact great!

hey guys,
i put the calvert split monos on the car.
this is the way it sits w/o the caltracs and shocks- i will mount them tomorrow.

this is the -1 spring, and i think it sits ~1.5 inches too high.
these springs did level my sagging springs but raised the car ~2 inches.

will they settle some, or should i consider swapping for the -2.5 spring?

thoughts appreciated,

thanks
steve

heres mine right after the install, with 225# springs, 2.5 inch drop with affco sliders.

Yours dont sit that high. They will settle some, but nut much, install the shocks and then decide on the swap, calvert will swap once, you pay to ship one way and they cover one as well.

Shackles, sliders?

i remember these pics when you posted them previously.
your car sits great- id be happy with that stance.
do you have tubular control arms and moroso trick springs up front?

i just installed the caltracs on the stock shackles.
edit: i just googled afco slider.
im sure it lowers the car somehow?
gosh...im having trouble believing these -1's sit this high!
the only thing left would be the -2.5's like yours right?
or get some of these sliders?

thanks again for your time,

steve

will the afco sliders lower the car?

btw: did you get the 47150 moroso springs? if so did you have to cut a coil or two to get your stance?

thanks again

Affco's will lower the car some as well,

I have the 47165's. BIG BLOCK.
I did cut one coil. I may cut one more or order lower springs later.

here is a link, from when I was ordering the springs

i will see how much she settles.
im betting im going to want it as low as yours...

take care and thanks again,

Did you finish the install?

Steve
Did you finish the install?

we kind of "foosed" my car- meaning over the past few weeks we pretty much have redone the entire drivetrain on this thing.
from, 383, 350 trans with ~3000K converter, went through the rear end putting in bearings, seals, limited slip with 373's, fuel cell, new exhaust with 2 1/2 inch flow crappers flared to 3inch, and then finally the caltracs.

we lack about 2 hours before firing the new motor- wiring alternator, tach, header collectors- we will put the caltracs on when we put it back on the lift this week.

regarding the caltracs, i think im going to add one more 1/2 inch spacer.
id like it to be 1.5 inches lower, so in theory, if i add this spacer and hopefully she settles ~1inch- i might be at my desired height.

we will see.

i will post a pic and pm you when its done.

thanks for your time

When going from a stock multi leaf to a split mono.....what needs to be done? Dont think its a direct bolt in correct?

actually i think the multileaf perch is "deeper" so you would need to purchase or make your own 1/2 aluminum spacer to put above and below the mono leaf spring. otherwise, i think you still use the u bolts...and that should be it!
otherwise not a big deal.
i have heard that you will save some weight too by making the switch.

hey guys,
here is a pic of the way the car sits after completion of -1 calvert split monos, rancho 99124 shocks, with caltracs. we added a total of (2) 1/2 inch aluminum spacer blocks and a 2 degree pinion wedge on each side.
she appears to sit pretty level. i am pleased with the overall height in the back. I would be even more happy if it will settle near one more inch as stated by some of you in previous posts.
here is a pic for those who requested it.
ive got to lower the front in the upcoming months- im considering heating the front springs until then.

thanks to all for their time and help.

greetings!
i will try to get a full car photo soon.
i took some quick pics yesterday...just ran out of time!
fired the new drivetrain, broke in the flat tappet cam, as well as installed the caltracs in a 3-4 hour window of time.
i had a lot of fun...too much...
i probably romped on it too soon- blew radiator fluid out the back of the new water pump- dont know what happened here- i guess i didnt make sure the back seal/gasket was tight before running it yesterday.

thanks again for the reply.
