Hi Folks,
I am converting drums to discs on the front end of my 63 Nova. The current configuration is 4-bolt.
BUT, the wheels are "uniwheel" 8-bolt, and my mechanic tells me that converting to disc brakes up front (5-bolt) is no big deal. No wheel change is needed.
Comments? Is my mechanic smokin' N2O? Or some other substance?
Thanks all, Tim

In my opinion, uniwheel, unifit, varifit, whatever, doesn't belong on a car. If it's going to be a five lug, get five lug wheels. It'll be safer. Dave

If you have 8 holes, which 5 do you think are going to fit? Your "mechanic" must be a rocket scientist in his real job!

X2...yeah, that is not going to work. If the wheels had dual five lug patterns (5 on 4.75 and 4.5, for instance), it might work, but that is 10 holes. Just get a set of wheels you really like. If you are going to keep the rearend, just have a new set of axles cut with the same five lug pattern on the flange, and you'll be good to go.

Is my mechanic smokin' N2O? Or some other substance? That would be Crack Cocaine, Alex. I'm with the others on the uni wheel thing. Maybe in his mind he was thinking of a uni-lug 5 lug dual pattern (ford & chevy)????
Anyway...switch the damn thing to 5 lug anyway.
