Anyone know the alignment specs for a manual steering 1972 Nova? Just curious as I may have to have one aligned. Yes, it is still a small block car. Thanks.

Don't know about where you live, but around me, I can get an alignment for around $50.00. Check around your front end places...

I got a place I can take it too right by me, but was not sure if the alignment machines these chain places use go back to 1972. I know it's gonna need some more negative caster than a power steering car for wheel return, but that's about all I know. Was figuring camber about 0.5* positive on both sides, zero toe, but was not sure on where the caster would need to be set. Any guys running manual steering 3rd Gens that can give some input on this one?

Thanks

Hi Dennis,
POSITIVE caster (the lower ball joint is further forward than the upper as viewed from the side) is what makes the wheel snap back. Here are the specs for my 1970, not sure if they changed for 1972:

Camber + 1/4 degree (plus or minus 1/2 degree)
Caster + 1/2 degree ( plus or minus 1 degree)
Toe in 3/16" ( plus or minus 1/8")

If you have any more questions, call me. You have my cell #.

Yes, postive caster. Thank you. Been a long time since tech school and when I don't use this info. everyday it just leaks away. Thanks for the specs too. Hopefully will come in handy after I look at that car in California.

Nice meeting you briefly on Sunday, had it not been for the rain we might have had a better chance to talk a bit. I'm sure I'll see you around at some shows next summer. :D
