I am leaving my drum brakes on the front of my 65 4 door, but would like to go to a double master cylinder. Has anyone done this type of conversion, and how hard is it to do? I know I'll have to add a line, proportioning valve etc.
Thanks

Easiest to find a donor car at a junk yard. If I am not mistaken you should beable to use a 68 on master cylinder for 4 drum car. Should be straight forward and fairly simple. I did a manual disk brake upgrade and it was a piece of cake.

Read this...first half is about disc upgrades, second half is about drum with dual chamber MC upgrade. Easy to do:

I just finished doing this the other day on my wagon. It was pretty easy to do. The hardest part is bending the line to run from the MC to passenger side distribution block. I bought a MC from a 67 chevy II and 110" of bendable brake line at Advance Auto Parts. I can get into more detail and take some pics if you need me to.

You should be able to buy just the front portion of the brake line set from many of the pre-bent brake line vendors if you don't want to bend it yourself.

I bought just the front piece for my 67 from RightStuffDetailing.com, and I'm sure that Inline Tube offers the same thing. You just gotta call them and ask for it.

I did the same thing with my 65. I bought a kit from
Chevy2 only. It came with all the lines needed
including flex lines
and a distribution block with small lines to get from
the mc to to the distribution block. This includes a new
front to rear line that runs how a 67 would.
If you have any more questions on this kit I would be glad
to give you some more details how my instillation went.

I want to thank all who answered my question. You have all been a great deal of help. I will see about getting a m/c and all the lines I need and go from there. I have used Inline tube before, and they are great. I needed an original carb to fuel pump line for my 65 inline 6, but all they had lissted was 62-64. They made me one, and if it didn't work, I could return it. That was in 1998, and it's still working good. Again, thanks to all.
