Hey guys. I currently have 15" American Racing Outlaw rims on my 73. I love the look, but the rear wheel rubbing is a constant issue. I've been thinking about switching to GM Rally Wheels (14"). Does anybody know what the backspacing on the Rally Wheels is? I've heard people say 4.75" or 5.00". Any confirmation with these numbers? Thanks- Mike

I measured the factory "SS" rally wheels on mine and I believe they are 4 1/2" bs. Maybe 4 3/4". I laid a block across the outer lip of the wheel on the back side and measured to the back of the lug holes. These are 14" wheels. I have 15" wheels with 4 1/2" bs on the rear. You can get these with many different backsets and widths from Wheel Vintiques through Summit. Look up "slickman" on the site. His car has a full set of these he got from Summit but I don't remember what size.....

I don't know what size tires and such you want to do - but if I had it to do over again I think I would have gone with 7" wide rims with the 4.5" bs instead of 8" wide. I think that would have given me a little more clearance. The 8" looks better I think, but I can't have anyone in the back seat, and I have to be careful going over large bumps and such or I get a slight rub still. Nothing really bad - but I think the 7" would have been better in hind sight....
I'll probably file a little on the fender lips to help it out this winter when I get time. On my car - a 5" bs would have put the tire rubbing the shock. I have like 3/4" of clearance on the shock now - so I am maxed out with what I have on there without modification....
