So my car just went into the body shop last night to fix a couple problems. The passenger door needs a skin, rocker under the passenger door has a dent, rust repair on the leading edge of both quarters, tiny rust spot on drivers door, antenna hole filled, and then the entire car gets repainted. Just to top it off, all this has to be done and I have to have it reassembled by Sept. 12 for the northeast nova show! This is gonna be really close, but its in the hands of two people I have come to trust so hopefully it will get done. I will post some before pics soon and try to get some as the project progresses.
I think i'm going through about every emotion right now, excitement, fear, anticipation, stress! Needless to say these are going to be a hectic few weeks, especially with classes starting soon! AM I CRAZY

You ARE getting the WHOLE car painted - right? I remember a thread where you were thinking about just doing part of it...
OOPs......my bad. I just saw the "entire car" part of your post...
Who's door skin did you use and how was the fitment?
Your progress looks good so far.

If you are not going to re-install the side trim pieces, you need to weld those holes up and not just fill them with bondo.

The trim is going back on so no holes other than the antenna hole are being filled and that is with metal.
I got the skin from J&W Nova at spring carlisle and it is made by goodmark. It fit well, but the fender needed to be shaved a bit to keep a consistent gap. Looks good though and only a bit more alignment needs done.
Primer hopefully tuesday and then paint by saturday, then back together by friday of next week!!!

We finished blocking the car last night and it was trailored to the paint shop today. Forgot the camera, but it didn't really look any different. The only thing left now is to do prep work, mask everything, and then it should get painted saturday morning! :D I can't tell you how excited i am.
Quick story, i went to the paint shop to get all of the materials, and it ended up being just over 500 dollars for a gallon of color and 1200 total for the rest of it:mad:!!!!! ouch, so i decided to go with a slightly different paint (shopline rather than ppg...funds are running low!) and so far the painter is impressed at how well what we have put on lays so i hope it will come out just as well.

i wonder if goodmark re-tooled since 2004.... they did not fit right back then....and had waves on the bottom....

sorry guys, i've been having some computer issues and haven't even been on for a while. The new color is called dark cloissone blue alternate 1 (for the metallic) it looks fairly light in some pictures, but is darker in person and especially in the shade

I repainted the centercaps and wheels...and had fun wiping all 40 ribs per center cap with thinner.

Well it was worth the rush and i had a great time at the Northeast Nova Show
I got the car back from paint the sunday before the show and had it together by thursday night. The only help i got was hanging the front and rear bumpers, and my dad filed out the hole for the passenger side door lock. I started it teusday to find out the water pump decided to die, so i got an aluminum water pump, and installed that along with my new aluminum radiator. Other than putting it together i cut off the tailpipes and put on a pair of dumps before the axles, and it sounds so much better now. Hopefully i will get it to the track soon and see what she does, its a 13 car but traction is my main issue at the moment. I've been driving the @^&%# out of it and plan on doing that much more. I even finally got state farm to revalue the car so its at least worth something now!

I lost the original paint code, but it was called impulse met. When i tried to look it up the color it couldn't be farther from my paint, it was almost gray. This color was as close as i could find to the original since i wanted to keep it blue.
