the tank in my 71' was leaking. i went to buy a new and he gave me a 68-69 tank. he sid it will work except for the emissions. i am looking at the old tank and notice that there are 3 lines running into the tank on the sides. are these for the emissions, and can i just plug them?

I bought a new tank that had extra return line openings. I just plugged them up.

If you plug the lines make sure you get a vented gas cap.

Also, there won't be any pressure relief when you fill the tank up. So it'll barf gas on the ground if you are pumping too fast.
Funny, I thought the inlet position on the 68-69 tank was different than on the 70-74?

I think it is only the 73-74 tank that is different.

i installed it last night. the gas cap for the 71' wouldn't work, so i went and bought a cap for a 69', so i am assuming that it is vented. i idled the car for about 10 minutes and took it for a quick 5 minute drive. everything seems to be in order.
